Muncie School officials have approved a ten-million dollar bond issue to fund various school renovation and maintenance projects.
The “Star Press” reports the Muncie School Board approved the bond issue as a way to pay for needed maintenance and renovation projects that can’t be funded through property taxes now thanks to Indiana’s property tax cap. School officials say that cap has cost them nearly 30-million dollars.
Nearly two-million of that bond issue will go toward needed renovations at Muncie Central High School to accommodate additional students next fall thanks to the merger of Central and Southside.
Repairs will also be made at several other buildings, including the Muncie Area Career Center and the Muncie Fieldhouse.
