Johnson Murder Trial To Go To Jury

The Murder trial of a Marion teenager is expected to go to the jury today following final witnesses and closing arguments.

Yesterday, one witness testified that 19-year old Shakur Johnson told her that he went to the home of murder victim Mark Cotton Junior to buy synthetic drugs and that he then “served him up.”

Probation officer Lakisha Fisher testified that Johnson made the comment while making a hand gesture imitating the firing of a gun.  Johnson is charged with murdering Cotton in the back yard of his home on South Nebraska Street in December of 2015.

The case is expected to go to the jury sometime this afternoon.
