Legislative Group Investigates Linking State Trails

A legislative task force looking for ways to connect bike trails throughout Indiana will meet today to discuss their plans.

The Indiana Bike Trails Task Force was created earlier this year by the General Assembly to develop proposals to link up bike trails, as well as determine ways to pay for them.

The group must release its findings by July of 2019, including six possible ways to fund the improvements and a timetable for getting the projects done.

Indiana currently has more then 15-hundred miles of hard surface, off-road trails that are open to bicycles. But officials say the state lags behind other states when it comes to linking up those trails.
