The Marion Transportation Department will soon add four more drugs to the list of those that are tested for when drug tests are administered to employees and potential employees.
All of the new drugs added to the testing program are synthetic opioid pain killers. The drugs are highly addictive.
Transportation Department officials say finding the drugs in the systems of those being tested will be reason for investigation and possible suspensions and even termination in some cases. But they add that no action will be taken against those being tested if they have a valid prescription from a certified doctor.
The Marion Board of Works approved the plan, The new testing will go into effect on January first.
