Extreme Cold Opens Grant County Warming Centers

Wind Chill warnings remain in effect for the area until early Tuesday afternoon, with high temperatures only expected in the single digits.

Because of the bitter cold, Marion Schools will be closed Tuesday and all after school activities are cancelled.

In Grant County, Emergency Management Agency officials have opened warming centers at Brookhaven Wesleyan Church in Marion and the Epworth United Methodist in Matthews through Friday afternoon, and at the Hillside Wesleyan Church in Marion and at the Grant County Rescue Mission in Marion through Saturday evening.

The warming stations are for temporarily getting out of the cold, but no overnight accommodations are available and no pets will be allowed.
