Indiana Handgun at School Law Being Changed

It’s illegal to carry a gun on school property in Indiana, but the State Senate will vote next week on making an exception.

The bill before lawmakers would make it legal to carry a gun during religious services, even if the church or temple campus includes a school. Churches could still impose their own rules to declare themselves gun-free.

Bill sponsors say they’ve heard from several churches in the state that are nervous after mass shootings at churches in Texas and South Carolina.
