James Arrested-Fatal Crash On Kem Road In November

A Marion man faces five felony charges following a two-month investigation into a head-on crash west of Marion in November that killed another man.

Indiana State Police say 45-year old Weston James of Marion was driving westbound on Kem Road near Troy Avenue on the morning of November 22nd, when his vehicle struck an S-U-V driven by 61-year old James Bartrum of Marion.  Bartrum died in the crash, while James and his two sons were injured.

State Police say blood tests later showed that James had a Blood Alcohol Level above the legal limit.  He now faces charges of Causing a Death While Driving Drunk, two counts of Neglect of Dependent Causing Serious Injury, plus driving left of center.

James turned himself in to authorities at the Grant County Jail Thursday morning and was then released on bond.
