Members of the Marion Board of Works are now weighing a decision regarding a grievance that was filed by the local Fraternal Order of Police on behalf of a retired Marion Police officer.
Retired officer Justin Faw filed the grievance over an apparent glitch in the contract that covers officers and retired officers. When the contract was changed over a year ago, the wording had one line that required retirees to pay full premiums for family members just as full time officers do. But another line in the pact said retirees did not have to do so.
Board of Works members are now trying to figure out which line should be followed and how to rectify the matter. They won’t announce a decision until their next meeting in early March.
