Nichols To Plead Guilty In Muncie Money Fraud

The building commissioner for the City of Muncie will plead guilty to charges of Wire Fraud and Money Laundering after being accused of charging the city hundreds of thousands of dollars for work that was done at over-inflated prices or not done at all.

Craig Nichols had been facing 34 charges, but prosecutors have dropped 32 of them as part of a plea agreement.

Nichols has been on leave since being indicted. His home and offices were raided by the F-B-I twice in 2017.

Nichols faces up to 20 years in prison and up to 500-thousand dollars in fines when he’s sentenced.
