Angel Tree Registration Begins Thursday

Sign-ups get underway this week for the Angel Tree Program of the Salvation Army of Grant County.  The program provides gifts and clothing for hundreds of needy children in Grant County each year.

Sign-ups will take place Thursday and Friday of this week from 9 a-m to 2 p-m and Saturday from 10 until 2 at the Salvation Army headquarters on North Bradner Avenue in Marion.  They’ll also take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday of next week at the same times.

Salvation Army Lieutenant Blake Fewell says needy families in Grant County can sign up to take part.

Those applying for the Angel Tree must provide proof of residency and income, plus birth certificates for all kids 12 and under that live in that household.  The names of children who qualify for the program will be placed on Angel Trees to be selected by area residents who can shop for the kids or just provide a monetary donation and volunteers will do the shopping for them.  The gifts will be distributed at a party in mid-December.

Full information can be found on the Salvation Army’s website at samarion.org/angeltree.
