Alert for New Email Scams

by Sammy Edmonds posted Jan 29 2014 3:26PM
Email users are being told to be on the lookout of two new email phishing scams.
Indiana Michigan Power parent company, A-E-P, is urging customers to be cautious of emails that appear to come from power companies.  Clicking on the link in the email can put users at risk of information and identity theft. The company says to be wary of any suspicious communication, even if it appears to be from the company.
The Better Business Bureau is also warning Hoosiers of an email scam referencing court hearing notifications.  The BBB says that court notices will always be delivered by mail, and often require signatures.  They say if you receive such an email, do not click on the attachment, and forward it to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@U-C-E-dot-gov.
