A Marion man has pleaded guilty to murdering his neighbor and faces up to 70-years in prison for doing so.
29-year old Francisco Amaro entered his guilty plea Tuesday as part of a plea agreement in connection with the shooting death of 28-year old Randy Lahr in July.
The “Chronicle-Tribune” reports Amaro said he shot Lahr during an argument that he said would have turned physical if he hadn’t fired. Police say Amaro shot Lahr five times before he fell to the ground, then fired two more shots to make sure he was dead.
Investigators say the argument stemmed from an ongoing dispute between neighbors in the area of West Nelson and Butler Avenue.
If Grant County Superior Court Two Judge Dana Kenworthy accepts the plea agreement, Amaro will receive a sentence of 70-years in prison. Sentencing is set for January 13th.
