A Madison County Kiwanis club has disbanded after nearly 100-years because of declining membership.
The Anderson Noon Kiwanis Club was one of several in the Anderson area. The club was chartered in October of 1919, and once had more than 150 members. But membership had fallen to about 20, and members decided to disband.
The club's last day was Monday.
The average age of club members was 75, and about 13 members had died over the last three years. Officials say changes in family dynamics that limited the time available to volunteer played a major role in their inability to attract new members.
