The state of Indiana will begin the appeal process next week after being denied federal disaster assistance from FEMA. The state sought the declaration for Howard County after tornadoes ripped through the area last month.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has requested more joint preliminary damage assessments for Howard and other affected counties. The assessments begin Monday.
