Attorney General and Schools Sue IRS

by Sammy Edmonds posted Oct 14 2013 3:05PM
The Indiana Attorney General and 15 school corporations have sued the Internal Revenue Service.

Attorney Greg Zoeller says they‘re challenging a new IRS rule that imposes expensive "employer mandates"…as part of ‘Obamacare’…on state and local governments.

Zoeller says they‘re seeking to block the requirements because the Affordable Care Act doesn‘t allow financial penalties in states like Indiana that didn‘t create their own health insurance exchanges.  Zoeller says they also contend the penalties don‘t apply to government employers.

He says the IRS doesn‘t have the authority to treat the state as a taxable entity.
