BREAKING: Small Plane Crash in Marion Results in Minor Injury

by Sammy Edmonds posted Feb 26 2014 3:42PM
The pilot of a small plane escaped nearly unscathed after crashing at the Marion Municipal Airport Saturday afternoon.  Grant County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from the pilot just after 1:30pm saying he’d crashed and was trapped inside.

Mill Township Firefighters, Marion Firefighters and other first responders arrived to the scene where he was extricated from the plane.  The pilot reportedly walked away from the accident and was transported to Marion General Hospital for treatment.  He suffered cuts and scrapes but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The pilot’s identity has not yet been released.  No one else was on the plane and no one else was harmed in the crash.

The plane reportedly hit a snow bank which caused it to flip over while he was trying to land.  The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
