The community will come together in Kokomo to honor an Iraq War Veteran who was slain in early December in Indianapolis responding to a Craigslist ad.
Sergeant First Class James Vester was gunned down on Indianapolis’ west side on December 4th after he was lured there by a Craigslist ad for an iPad he intended to purchase for his parents. Two teenage brothers face murder and robbery charges in the case.
A benefit concert honoring Vester will be held on March 8th in downtown Kokomo. Family band, Walker County, will perform at the Ruhm Academy of Music at 7pm where free-will donations will be accepted and a silent auction will take place. Funds raised from the event will develop a Yorktown High School scholarship Vestor’s wife is coordinating.
