An Indiana State Police bomb squad detonated a suspicious package found at a downtown Marion law firm yesterday afternoon. Marion Police were first on the scene of Kiley Harker and Certain at 300 West 3rd Street after employees reported a suspicious brown box at their location just after 4pm. Police called in the Grant County Sheriff’s Department and their K9 bomb detection dog, which in turn alarmed officers that the package was potentially an explosive. The Indiana State Police bomb squad was then called in, and detonated the box just before 7pm.
No one was injured in the incident. Employees told police they don’t know where the package came from and there was no writing on the box. After detonation, officials determined the contents included what resembled a calculator that had been packed with newspaper.
The case remains under investigation.
