A State Police bomb squad detonated a suspicious package found at a downtown Marion law firm yesterday afternoon.
Marion Police were called to the offices of Kiley, Harker and Certain at 300 West 3rd Street after employees reported a suspicious brown box with black tape was found just after 4pm. Police called in the Grant County Sheriff’s Department and their K9 bomb detection dog, which alarmed officers that the package was a potential explosive. The Indiana State Police bomb squad was then called in and detonated the box just before 7pm.
Employees told police they didn’t know where the package came from and there was no writing on the box. After detonation, officiers determined the contents included what resembled a calculator that had been packed with newspaper.
No one was injured in the incident and the case remains under investigation.
