Chamber Wants to Do Away With ?Smokers Bill of Rights?

by Sammy Edmonds posted Dec 3 2013 3:23PM
Your cigarette habit could cost you a job if the Indiana Chamber achieves one of its goals for the upcoming session of the Indiana Legislature.

The Chamber is seeking repeal of Indiana‘s 1990 "Smokers‘ Bill of Rights," which says employers can‘t refuse to hire smokers and can‘t charge them higher premiums for health insurance.

Indiana has one of the highest smoking rates in the nation, and Chamber president Kevin Brinegar says that‘s directly responsible for some of the highest health insurance costs in the United States.
