Circles Event-Poverty in Grant County

by Sammy Edmonds posted Feb 26 2014 10:47AM
Grant County residents next week can find out what its like to live in poverty without actually living that way.  Then, they’ll be asked to help alleviate the problem.
The non-profit group “Circles” will conduct a “Poverty Simulation” event at the Clarence Faulkner Community Center in Marion next Tuesday evening at 6.
Spokesman Andrew Sprock says those taking part will play the different roles of those living in poverty.
Sprock says in Grant County about a quarter of local children live in poverty, with more than 40-percent of those kids living in one-parent households and more than ten-percent of the parents in those homes being out of work.
Reservations for next week’s event are required by this Friday by calling 251-8242.
