City of Muncie Seeks $4-million for Demolitions

by Sammy Edmonds posted Mar 11 2014 3:19PM
The City of Muncie will seek four-million dollars from a federal grant program to use for demolition of blighted buildings in the city.
The “Star-Press” reports that city officials plan to seek the money to tear down many old, abandoned houses in some of Muncie’s worst neighborhoods.  The money is being made available to Indiana cities through a grant program from the U-S Department of the Treasury.
The city has already come up with a list of nearly 200 such houses that could be torn down this year with money through the program if their application is approved.
