Council Moves Mysterious Salaries On to Public Hearing

by Sammy Edmonds posted Dec 2 2013 2:55PM
Marion city employees that were supposedly laid off as part of the 2014 budget are showing up on payroll again as a result of the city reverting back to the old budget.

City Controller Tammy Miller presented the city council with proposed maximum allowed pay increases, but the proposal included set amounts for employees that were originally cut as part next year’s proposed budget.

Miller confirmed to the council that some employees who were cut are still employed.  She says it’s up to the mayor and department heads to make decisions on cuts.

Mayor Seybold was not on hand for comment.

The council will discuss the matter further before a public hearing on the 19th.
