Council Votes to Pay Attorney Against Mayor’s Wishes

Some Marion City Council members opted out of insurance coverage for the year and approved to use the funds to pay for legal services.  Councilman Fred Troxxel says the council needs to have their own representation citing City Attorney Don Galloway can’t be trusted.
Mayor Wayne Seybold says the unused council funds should’ve gone toward health insurance debt which he says is $2 million in the hole. He says the council is spending money they don’t have.
The council also approved to borrow $12 million which will be used to operate the city for the entire year in anticipation of their biannual tax draw.
