Disabled Veterans? Assistance Bill Passed In Assembly

by Sammy Edmonds posted Mar 20 2014 4:30PM
A new bill created by State Senator Jim Banks to assist disabled veterans cleared the General Assembly Thursday.

The law will establish the Veterans Disability Clinic Fund to provide grants to some law schools in exchange for affordable legal services for veterans.

The legislation also has a directive for the Indiana State Department of Health to increase programs for veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and traumatic brain injuries.  The department would be required to analyze the best treatments for these disabilities, the necessary healthcare for them, the number of Indiana residents affected, and the costs associated with treating them.

The bill now awaits clearance from the governor.
