Senator Joe Donnelly is extolling the virtues of the auto industry in the state five years after the industry was rescued. Donnelly says Indiana had 102,000 auto industry workers in early 2008, and a year later, that number dropped to 69,000.
Since then, Donnelly says Chrysler, GM, Honda and Subaru have added millions in investments and hundreds of jobs. Donnelly says Chrysler has invested nearly $2 billion in investments and GM has added nearly a half-billion.
He says the state is back to having over 100,000 workers in the auto industry.
