Downtown Marion Fire Station Back in Operation

by Sammy Edmonds posted Feb 10 2014 3:29PM
Marion’s downtown fire station is back in operation after being shut down temporarily due to storm damage. Firefighters moved back into Station One on Saturday after 2-and-a-half months of being displaced after November storms rocked a radio tower onto the structure, causing significant damage to the roof.

But Marion Fire Chief Paul David says the temporary displacement was affecting response time, and determined it was crucial that firefighters get back downtown as soon as possible.

The Firefighters Union praised Chief David for his decision.

David says they’re still waiting on the weather to break before they can make repairs.
