Downtown Marion Hog Statues to Go Up for Sale

by Sammy Edmonds posted Mar 24 2014 3:55PM
Marion, Indiana will always be the “home of the hog,” but the hog statues on the square will soon come down.  Main Street Marion Director Loretta Tappan says the purpose of the project was to raise awareness of Marion’s ties to motorcycles and showcase local artists’ work, but their costly upkeep was becoming inevitable.  One was even damaged in a car accident.
Tappan says they’re currently applying for a grant to purchase planters to go in their place, then distribute the planters on the square to neglected areas downtown.
But she says the hogs still need a home!  All will go up for sale during April’s First Friday event on the 4th
