Dunham?s to Build New Distribution Center in Marion

by Sammy Edmonds posted Feb 26 2014 10:43AM
Once agreements with the city and county finalize, Dunham's Sports will build a new distribution center in Marion creating 135 jobs over the next five years.  The company currently leases a building for distribution, but at the end of their contract they plan to purchase city-owned property next to Ivy Tech at State Road 18 and I-69 and build the new 735,000 square-foot site.
Dunham's Vice President Doug Tracey says since 1994 they’ve grown from 100 to 200 stores across 17 states.  He says it was time to accommodate that growth.
Mayor Wayne Seybold says they’re excited to remain the center for Dunham’s distribution.  The Marion City Council Tuesday night approved the first step in granting tax abatement to Dunham's.
The company plans to break ground in late March, and open for operation in January, 2015.
Meanwhile, Dunham's will relocate their Marion store into a larger space later this year adding more retail jobs as well.
