A judge has denied the appeal of a Marion man who appealed the challenge that removed his name from the local Primary ballot. Unless he files another appeal, that virtually ends the effort by Jarred Eib to get his named placed back on the ballot for next month’s Primary election.
Eib filed for Grant County Superior Court Three Judge on the Republican ballot in January, but Grant County G-O-P Chairman Jerry Shull challenged Eib’s candidacy based on his voting record. Eib claimed the last time he voted in a primary was in 2008 when he voted as a Republican. But Shull claimed voting records showed Eib actually voted as a Democrat and could not file this year as a Republican.
The Indiana Election Commission upheld Shull’s challenge and Eib’s name was removed from the ballot. Eib appealed, but the judge in the appeal ruled the challenge was correct and that Eib cannot run in the G-O-P Primary on May 6th.
