A Republican candidate for Judge of Grant County Superior Court Three has had his name removed from the ballot after a challenge was raised by the county Republican chairman.
Jarred Eib had filed earlier this year to seek the Superior Court Three Judge’s seat now held by Warren Haas. Both men are Republicans and were set to square off against each other in the G-O-P Primary in May.
But county Republican Chairman Jerry Shull filed a challenge against Eib, claiming Eib had last voted as a Democrat in 2008. Eib’s Election Committee acknowledged that fact, saying Eib did so, but then went off to law school and came back to run as a Republican. Eib said he did not realize the mistake until after he had filed as a Republican candidate.
But the Indiana Election Commission voted to disqualify Eib from the ballot, meaning Judge Haas will run unopposed in May, barring an appeal.
Eib’s campaign committee said in a news release that they will seek judicial review of the matter.
