An Elwood man officially faces murder charges in connection with the 2011 death of his aunt whose body was found in Grant County last year.
Six counts were filed in Grant County Circuit Court against 49-year-old Donald Burns, the nephew of 74-year-old Dorothy Heard of Noblesville, who disappeared two years ago, but was found dead last February in Grant County.
Burns has been in jail on unrelated charges since before her body was found. He’s now accused of murdering Heard in the summer of 2011. He also faces 2 counts of forgery, one count of theft and two counts of receiving stolen property in connection with the murder. Burns was linked to suspicious activity found in 2011 on Heard’s credit card and personal property shortly after her disappearance.
Investigators found Heard’s body near the Mississinewa 1812 battleground in February of last year. Tests determined she died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Burns is set to appear for an initial hearing on the charges November 1st in Grant County Circuit Court.
