Environmental Group Says Reservoir Threatens Rare Wildlife

by Sammy Edmonds posted Apr 3 2014 10:57AM
An Environmental group says the proposed Mounds Lake Reservoir would threaten several forms of rare wildlife that live the area of the proposed lake.

The “Star Press” reports that the Indiana Plant and Wildlife Society says the proposed reservoir in Madison and Delaware Counties north of Daleville would threaten the existence of a rare dragonfly, a rare form of mole and a rare orchid that grows in the area.  INPAWS reports those forms of life exist only in that area and could become extinct if the lake is built.

The reservoir has been proposed by damming the White River in that area to provide water for the region.  But developers say environmental studies must be done before the waterway becomes a reality.
