Fire in Fairmount Leaves Home Heavily Damaged

by Sammy Edmonds posted Feb 3 2014 1:43PM
A fire in Fairmount this (Thursday) afternoon left a home heavily damaged.  Homeowner Ronnie Brown said he was sitting in his home on 714 South Factory Street when he noticed electrical shortages, then escaped to safety when a neighbor alarmed him of flames coming from the second story.

No one else was home and no one was injured.

Fairmount Fire Chief Rick Clevenger says the attic and second story sustained heavy damage but said he’s not sure yet if the structure is a total loss.  He says the fire was likely electrical in nature and adds that such a fire is typical in wintertime.

The home was built in the 1800s and had been newly remodeled.
