A Marion firefighter is recovering from burns sustained while battling a house fire Monday that also hospitalized the home’s resident.
Firefighter Troy Middleton was injured while fighting the blaze and was taken to Marion General Hospital. Middleton suffered second-degree burns to his arms and shoulders. He has since been released from the hospital.
Assistant Fire Chief Jason Hale rescued resident Gary Clark from the burning home at 604 North Lancelot Drive after Clark reportedly tried to re-enter the building to retrieve a pet. Clark was taken by ambulance to MGH for smoke inhalation and a second-degree burn to his arm. His condition is unknown.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
