In preparation for flooding, Grant County Emergency Management Agency Director Bruce Bender says they received a shipment of sandbags from the Department of Homeland Security and they are available to the public. Bender says they picked up 12,000 bags, delivered 6,000 to the County Highway Department and 6,000 to the Marion Street Department.
He says the bags in the county are available immediately, and the City of Marion is holding their shipment for future flooding needs.
Sandbags at this time may be picked up at the Grant County Highway Department located at 3939 Garthwaite Road in Gas City.
The department can be reached at 765-677-6044.
