Food Prices on the Rise

by Sammy Edmonds posted Nov 27 2013 10:18AM
If you‘ve visited the supermarket lately, you‘re not imagining things.  Food prices are climbing while some packaging is shrinking.  Butler University Economist William Rieber says food prices are rising thanks to factors including world market conditions.  Rieber says China and Brazil have been growing rapidly and importing more food as a result.  Rieber also attributes the rise to bad weather that has reduced food supply in various parts of the world. Rieber says the rise in food prices varies from two percent to 20 percent over the past year.
