The owners of a Delaware County nursing home say they will likely close for good rather than continue to try and meet state regulations for care of the elderly.
The “Star Press” reports the owners of Hickory Creek Healthcare facility in Gaston say although progress has been made in improving conditions, they will likely close for good in early May. That will displace several dozen residents and put 76 full-time and 15 part-time employees out of a job.
Hickory Creek has been under intense scrutiny from state health regulators for several months and owners say it will likely be too much for them to keep the facility open. The owners late last week sent layoff notices to the State Department of Workforce Development as required by law.
An official announcement regarding the Gaston healthcare facility’s closure is expected within a few days.
