Governor Mike Pence is keeping a low profile in the same-sex marriage debate as a proposed constitutional amendment goes to the Senate today.
Pence acknowledged the marriage debate in his State of the State address with a single line expressing support for traditional marriage, and urging legislators to wrap up the debate this year.
Senate President Pro Tem David Long will chair the hearing in the Senate Rules Committee, but has said he wants the debate over the second sentence involving civil unions to wait until the resolution reaches the full Senate.
