Governor Seeks Major Disaster Declaration for Howard County

by Sammy Edmonds posted Dec 5 2013 10:29AM
Indiana Governor Mike Pence has requested a Major Disaster Declaration for Howard County from the November 16th tornadoes that struck North Central Indiana.  Such a declaration would enable affected residents and businesses to get low interest relief loans.
The governor said after seeing first-hand the damage to the Kokomo area, he wants to do everything in his power to gain relief for affected residents.  Pence says requests for additional counties may be sought.
In Howard County alone, nearly 200 homes and business were destroyed in the storms and nearly a thousand homes and businesses suffered damage.  That damage in Howard County has been estimated at more than two-point-eight million dollars.
