Governor Signs First Pre-K Funding Law in Indiana

by Sammy Edmonds posted Mar 28 2014 3:27PM

Governor Mike Pence has signed Indiana’s first state law funding for pre-kindergarten.

The law provides funding for the Family and Social Services Administration to administer a five-county, voluntary Early Education Pilot Program designed to help 15-hundred Hoosier children from low-income families attend the pre-kindergarten of their choice.

Before the law took effect, Indiana was the only state in the Midwest not providing state funding for pre-kindergarten.
