Grant Co to Purchase New Emergency Command Center

by Sammy Edmonds posted Dec 3 2013 2:42PM
Grant County will soon have a new mobile Emergency Command Center in case of future disasters or outstanding emergency situations.  Grant County Sheriff’s Captain Mike Ross their current mobilized center also used by the Emergency Management Agency, is a 20-year-old trailer and they haven’t been able to use it for its intended purpose, including during last weekend’s storms.
The new Command Center would be ready to deploy in the event of future natural disasters, hostage situations, hazmat emergencies and any other event that would require multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional response.
The county next week will purchase and repurpose a pre-owned diesel-fueled bus at a cost of 35-thousand dollars. Ross says the mobile command center could be operational in a couple of weeks.
The county council approved the purchase Wednesday.
