Miami County officials have entered the Grissom Aeroplex into the running for a huge development project with Boeing for the site to build its’ 777-X airplane. The “Peru Tribune” reports the project could be worth ten-billion dollars and could create up to 85-hundred jobs.
Boeing wants to build a four-million square foot facility on a 400-acre site by 2024 to build the 777-X and develop what Boeing officials call the “aircraft of tomorrow.”
Grissom already has the land, the infrastructure and runways big enough to handle the 777-X. Miami County officials say that gives them a leg up on many competing sites.
Eight other states besides Indiana are in the running for the new Boeing plant.
