A group of retirees from a Kokomo company that has produced metal alloys that were used in the Statue of Liberty and engines for the Apollo space missions is working to set the record straight about the firm's products.
The Haynes International retirees have spent the last two years crafting a narrative for the company's story and sorting through records donated by the company.
Retiree Mike Rothman told the “Kokomo Tribune that many people confuse the company with the underwear maker of a similar name but different spelling. He says most people are unaware of Haynes' importance over the past century.
The group produced a 21-page history of Haynes for the company's 100th birthday celebration last year and they hope they can soon write a book about the company.
