A former Marion man faces life in prison without the possibility of parole after he was convicted on all counts facing him Monday by a jury in Grant County Superior Court One.
James Griffith was one of two people accused of murdering 81-year old Duwayne Lindsey at his Marion home during a robbery in July of 2012. Co-defendant Lacy Bradley will be tried separately at a later date.
The jury needed just two hours to convict Griffith of Murder and all other related charges. Then in a separate proceeding last night they agreed with the prosecution’s request and imposed a sentence of life without parole. By doing so, the judge can only impose that sentence on Griffith when formal sentencing takes place next month.
Acting as his own attorney, Griffith claimed he wasn’t at the site and did not kill Lindsey, but that his girlfriend, Lacy Bradley committed the crime. Bradley testified earlier that she and Griffith killed and robbed Lindsey and that the idea was Griffith’s.
