Jay Kay Announces for Sheriff

by Sammy Edmonds posted Jan 2 2014 10:34AM
There’s another candidate for Grant County Sheriff on the Republican ticket for 2014.

Marion Police Captain Jay Kay announced over the weekend that he will run for Sheriff next year.

Kay has been with the Marion Police Department in various capacities since 1980 and was planning to retire soon.  That opened up the door for him to run for Sheriff.

Kay says he has several qualities that would make him a good sheriff.

Kay says if elected, he would work to improve patrol practices and criminal investigations with shared resources and support personnel.

Current Sheriff Darrell Himelick is barred by law from seeking a third term.
