A judge is now reviewing the appeal made by a Grant County man to get his name placed back on the May Primary ballot. Jarred Eib had filed for the Republican nomination for Grant County Superior Court 3 Judge earlier this year.
But Eib’s name was removed from the ballot after a challenge was made against him and upheld by the State Election Commission. Eib then appealed the ruling.
The “Chronicle-Tribune” reports a Marion County judge heard Eib’s appeal yesterday that his name should be placed back on the ballot for the May 6th Primary.
Eib claimed the challenge made by Grant County Republican Chairman Jerry Shull was unconstitutional because he checked how Eib had voted in the past and found that he last voted as a Democrat. Shull claimed that meant Eib could not run as a Republican this time.
A ruling from the judge is expected sometime next week.
