While the jury was selected Tuesday in the case accusing a Marion man of neglect resulting in the death of a toddler, the child’s mother this week was arrested on similar charges surrounding her daughter’s death.
The jury trial begins Wednesday for Donald Riddle, who is accused of failing to seek medical assistance after a child in his care, then 2-year-old Arianna Carmack, sustained burns to her face and torso and later died on February 13th of last year.
Preceding the jury selection, Carmack’s mother, 26-year-old Wanetta “Marie” Lloyd was arrested on the same “Class-A Felony” charge.
The two also face drug-related charges including dealing in marijuana.
For the next three days, a 14-person jury will hear the case. Meanwhile, Lloyd remains held in the Grant County Jail before her preliminary trial, which is set to take place April 28th.
