The State of Indiana is requesting federal assistance for Howard County following the severe tornadoes that ripped through the area last month.
Governor Pence last week asked that a Major Disaster Area Declaration be declared for Howard County, which would include grants and low-interest loans for residents and businesses devastated by the storms. Indiana‘s entire Congressional Delegation also sent a letter to President Obama urging support for the request.
Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight says no matter the outcome of the request for assistance, the recovery is underway.
Mayor Goodnight says hopes the federal assistance comes soon to help the community put the recovery on the fast track.
