This is the last week for extended school days for Marion Community school children. The school system decided to extend the school day to make up the days that were lost to severe winter weather.
Marion Teachers Association President John Butcher says although there were problems for some parents and students, he thinks overall it was a good move.
Butcher says most teachers who have students taking the ISTEP tests were glad to have extra time in the classroom to prepare their students for the state-mandated tests. He says otherwise, many might have failed and the teachers would have been blamed...even though they couldn’t control the weather during an overly-severe winter.
Marion students will revert back to their normal schedules beginning next Monday.
